EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS OF HOLY COMMUNION (EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS):
EMHC (EM’s) distribute the Eucharist for liturgies and special events (taking Holy Communion into the community). Parishioners must be approved by the pastor. Both diocesan and parish training are required.
Lectors proclaim the Scriptures during the Mass. As the Liturgy of the Word is a central element of the liturgy, lectors must be willing to study/reflect on the readings and proclaim them with understanding. Training is provided. Passion for God’s Word is required.
Director of Music: Ivy Adams
Adult Choir: Provides music for the weekend Masses on a rotating basis and for special occasions. The choir is open to all parishioners from 18-101 who enjoy music and want to participate from “up above.” All voices are welcome.
Cantors: Parishioners dedicated to enhancing the liturgy by leading the assembly in song throughout the year.
Children’s Choir: Members follow the words of our patron saint, St. Augustine: “Singing is praying twice.” They sing God’s praises during Masses (first and third Sunday of the month) and for special occasions such as Christmas concerts and caroling at nursing homes during the school year.
Funeral Choir: Members share their musical gifts to provide comfort and solace to families during the funeral liturgy. The choir is open to all parishioners who are available during the day and who can sing.
Parishioners and those from other churches are invited and encouraged to spend time with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. Our parish provides adoration 24/7 and new adorers are always needed, especially for the nighttime hours.
Our sacristan and Martha’s work quietly behind the scenes using their gifts and talents to care for the sanctuary and the body of the church. Two teams rotate on Wednesdays, usually from 9:00-11:00 am, serving by: sweeping, moping, changing candles, freshening the holy water fonts, organizing the hymnals in the pews, occasionally cleaning the choir loft, spring and fall cleaning, etc.
The ushers’ ministry is one of welcoming and service. Responsibilities include greeting, assisting special needs people, seating people, taking up and securing the collection, and distributing the bulletins. Polite and courteous men and women are always welcome for every weekend liturgy as well as special occasions.
